ABOUT MEHello! I am currently a junior high teacher at St. Gerard Catholic School in Lansing, Michigan. I teach 7th and 8th grade social studies and history as well as 8th grade theology. In addition to teaching, I can often be found coaching boys and girls basketball and volunteering on student retreats through our parish.
I grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan and attended Albion College for my undergraduate degree. Upon completion, I got a job teaching at a middle school in Lansing and have lived here ever since. I have held a few different teaching positions and even worked as a registered sleep technician at a sleep lab, where I also did technician training. I began at St. Gerard in 2010 and have found a true home with a dedicated staff and students that always keep me guessing, learning, and loving my job. After attending MACUL in 2015, I decided to apply for the Master of Arts in Educational Technology (MAET) program at Michigan State University (Go Green!). I am excited to be wrapping it up after having learned so much - learning that will continue far beyond obtaining the degree.
I am happily married with two kids. My two-and-a-half year old daughter and 3 month old son keep me busy and young and the time seems to fly now in a way that it never did before. I spend the weekends and evenings being active (a MUST with two kids) and rooting for the Spartans or Detroit Tigers. MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY RESUME |
